Brockport wins without Clark

UTICA (Sunday, February 3, 2002) -- Lindsey Neuhaus scored 13 points as visiting Brockport defeated SUNY Utica/Rome 69-39 Saturday afternoon in a basketball game.

The Golden Eagles (9-2 SUNYAC, 12-7). played without leading scorer Kristen Clark (Hilton), who was injured in the second half in Friday night's game at Oswego.

Autumn Sereno scored 12 points and Kristen Ferington added 10 for Brockport. The Golden Eagles won their fourth straight game.

Utica/Rome is 1-10, 3-17.

Mount Vernon Nazarene, Ohio 64, Roberts Wesleyan 60: Tracy Rebisz (Perry) scored 30 points and grabbed 18 rebounds for the visiting Red Raiders (8-8 American Mideast Conference, 12-10).

Monroe CC 68, Sage of Albany 44: Janitha Knight (Lyons) scored 10 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead the Tribunes (23-0).

Arin Belden (Warsaw) made eight assists and Bilisa Perkins scored 13 points for MCC, which has won 43 straight games dating back to last season.

Nazareth 53, St. John Fisher 44: Erin Michaels scored 21 points and Kadi Burgess (Newark) added 11 for the host Golden Flyers (5-3 Empire 8, 10-8). Nazareth led 37-35 with 7:18 left.

Nazareth scored eight points from the free-throw line over the last 5:00. Jaimee McGivern made four of those free throws.

Trisha Tofany scored 11 for St. John Fisher (7-2, 14-5). Three Fisher players fouled out.

Alfred 52, RIT 48: Lisa Valitutto scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the visiting Saxons (3-5 Empire 8, 8-9).

Amy Ratchuk added 12 and Brandi Backus 11 for Alfred. Backus made seven free throws.

Alfred trailed by six at halftime. It took lead for good with 5:00 left.

Lauren Long scored 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for RIT (0-8, 1-17).

William Smith 65, Skidmore 41: Leah Cornwell (Wheatland-Chili) scored 16 points to move into ninth place on the Herons' career scoring list with 1,066.

Melissa Brown and Maria Atti added 10 each for William Smith (7-2 UCAA, 14-4). Skidmore is 3-7, 10-9.

Syracuse 61, Villanova 53: Jaime James and Julie McBride each scored 14 points and Chineze Nwagbo added each for the visiting Orange (6-3 Big East, 13-7).

Villanova is 6-4, 12-8.

Niagara 83, Marist 61: Jessica Kemp scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the host Purple Eagles (2-10 Metro Atlantic Conference, 4-17).

Katie Murphy (Greece Athena) added 10 points for Niagara.

Murphy hit a jump shot with five seconds left in the first half to give Niagara a 32-29 lead at halftime.

Marist chipped away at the lead to start the second half and tied the score at 36 in the first three minutes with a 3-pointer by Marie Fusci. Jessie O'Donohue matched Fusci's 3 with one of her own on Niagara's next posession to spark a 12-5 run.

Marist is 5-7, 9-12.

Le Moyne 73, St. Michael's (Vt.) 61: Stacy Schrader (Fairport) scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the host Dolphins (13-4 NE 10, 16-5).

Jennifer Feher scored 18 for Le Moyne.

Jill Hammond (Bloomfield), returning from an abdominal injury, added eight points.

Keuka 71, Hilbert 34: Krista Bowen scored 13 points as 10 players scored the for Storm (3-1, 8-7). Visiting Keuka led at halftime, 35-17.

Alfred State 84, Erie Community College 51: Samantha Peters (Canisteo) scored 17 points and had 12 assists for the host Pioneers (11-7).

Nikki Clair (Wellsville) added seven points and five rebounds, both career-highs.

Urbana (Ohio) 66, Houghton 57: Alicia Mucher scored 20 points and Natalie Nelson added 11 for visiting Houghton in an American Mideast Conference game.

Siena 87, Canisius 81: Junior forward Gunta Basko scored 22 points and pulled down 16 rebounds and added 4 blocks to help visiting Siena defeat Canisius in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game.

The win pushed Siena's win streak to 17 straight games. The Saints are 12-0, 17-3, Canisius 6-6, 9-12.

The lead changed eight times in the second half.

The Griffs jumped out to an early 13-point lead thanks to a 14-0 run.
