SARANAC LAKE (Monday, February 4, 2002) -- Janitha Knight (Lyons) made five steals to go with 20 rebounds and 14 points as Monroe Community College routed Paul Smith's 109-26 Sunday in women's basketball.

MCC (24-0, No. 1 nationally) attempted a school-record 43 shots from 3-point range, making 15.

Taneisha McCroskey scored 22 points, making a career-high five 3-pointers, and pulled down 10 rebounds. Jamie Sheridan added 15 points and Bilisa Perkins added 13 for MCC.

Paul Smith's is 10-7.

Washington, Mo. 62, Rochester 60: Lesley Hawley came off the bench to score 20 points in 22 minutes as Washington, No. 1 in Division III, defeated the host Yellowjackets (4-5 University Athletic Association, 12-7 overall).

Sarah Sullivan made a 3-pointer from the right wing for UR, cutting Washington's lead to 60-58 with 1:43 left.

Hallie Hutchens hit a jumper for Washington, but Erika Smith's jumper with 1:06 left pulled UR within 62-60.

Washington (9-0, 20-0) lost the ball on a shot-clock violation with 31 seconds left, giving UR the last shot.

The Yellowjackets couldn't get a wide-open look, and Jen LaBuda's 3-pointer from the right of the key bounced off the left side of the rim just before the final buzzer.

Erika Smith led UR with 16 points and four assists. Tara Carrozza added 12 points in 15 minutes off the bench.

MEN

Hudson Valley 77, Monroe Community College 70 (OT): Roshad Fulton tied the game at 62 in regulation after Brandon Andrews (Bishop Kearney) stole a pass. Fulton (East) scored 17 and Andrews came off the bench to score 16 for Tribunes (18-6). Host Hudson Valley went on a 6-0 run to take control in overtime.

Rider 82, Niagara 67: Mario Porter scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Rider in Lawrenceville, N.J. It was the sixth straight win for the Broncs (9-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, 13-8).

James Reaves (Edison) scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Niagara (7-5, 11-12).
