(Wednesday, January 30, 2002) -- Michael Flemming scored all 15 of his points in the fourth quarter as Edison rallied to a 69-67 victory over Franklin in a City-Catholic game Tuesday.
Ernie Calloway scored eight of his 23 points in the fourth for Edison (6-2 league, 12-4 overall). Calloway also grabbed 14 rebounds and Brandon Williams scored 15 points and had 15 rebounds.
Calloway drove to the basket to give Edison a 58-57 lead -- its first lead since the first quarter -- with 3:41 left to play. After it gained the lead, Edison never relinquished it.
Terris Smith finished with 20 points for Franklin.
McQuaid 97, Marshall 67: Tyler Relph scored 28 points and had 10 assists, and Marty O'Sullivan scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead McQuaid (9-0, 15-1).
Gary Fields scored 25 points for Marshall.
McQuaid clinched the City-Catholic league title with the victory.
East 84, Wilson 52: Senior guard Marley Thompson scored 24 points, including nine in the third quarter, and had 11 assists with 5 steals for the host Orientals (4-4 league, 7-10 overall).
Freshman center Chris Rogers scored 22 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, including 11 offensive, and blocked 5 shots for East (4-4, 7-10).
Alfred Little scored 12 points for Wilson.
WAYNE COUNTY
East Rochester 64, Marion 60: James Rupert scored nine of his 18 points in the fourth quarter for East Rochester. Rupert also grabbed 11 rebounds.
Ron Whitcomb scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds for ER (8-4, 11-5).
Jared Schutt scored 22 points for Marion (6-5, 9-6).
Lyons 73, Gananda 49: Horace Betts scored 20 points and and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Lyons (12-0, 14-1).
Brian Carroll scored 14 points for Gananda.
FINGER LAKES
Newark 57, Canandaigua 50: Matt Groot scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Braves (7-4, 9-6).
Wayne 54, Victor 48: Jay Hannon scored 19 points to lead Wayne. Victor is 3-8, 4-11.
Harley-Allendale-Columbia 65, Naples 57: H-A-C made seven of its 11 steals in the second half to jump 15 points ahead of Naples.
Marcus Williams scored 23 points for the Wolves (4-12).
Mynderse 69, Penn Yan 60: Chad Schuyler scored 15 of his 22 points in the first half to lead Mynderse (4-7, 7-9).
NON-LEAGUE
Aquinas 64, School of the Arts 55: Kevin McMahan scored 12 of his 22 points and Mark Magliocco scored 10 of his 20 points in the third quarter to lead Aquinas (10-5).
Solomon Donaldson scored 30 points to lead SOTA.
Rochester School for the Deaf 58, St. Joseph's Villa 31: Charles Palmer scored 31 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the visiting Wildcats (8-5).
Webster Christian 78, C.G. Finney 67: Daniel Saxton scored a career-high 28 points and Dave Christen added a career-high 23 points for Webster Christian (2-12). Dwayne Snead scored 19 points for Finney.
