Bishop Timon rallies past McQuaid

(Sunday, February 3, 2002) -- Tim Kennedy scored an unassisted goal with 3:21 remaining in the game as Bishop Timon-VI defeated McQuaid 6-5 in the championship game of the McQuaid Tournament Saturday at RIT.

Kennedy was named tournament MVP.

Timon led 4-3 after two periods, but McQuaid scored twice in the first 2:21 of the third to take a 5-4 lead.

Joe Tremaine scored, with an assist from goaltender Justin Brosnan, at 1:57. Jon Marshall gave McQuaid the lead 24 seconds later.

Torren Delforte also scored a goal and was named to the all-tournament team along with Tyler Hoff for McQuaid (16-4-1), ranked sixth in the state.

Consolation, Ithaca-IV 5, Fairport 3: Fairport's Greg Collins had three assists and made the all-tournament team.

MONROE COUNTY

Hilton 3, Pittsford 2: Joe Patarino scored with three minutes left to play on a power play to boost Hilton, 3-2, at Lakeshore. Phil Rose and Scott Bartlett each scored to put the Panthers up 2-0 going into the final period. Greg Schwind scored two goals in the third period to tie the game at 2-2 for Hilton (10-9-1).

Greece Thunder 7, Penfield 2: Jake Wiemer, Steve Lamb, Matt Dimanno, Rob Weilert, and Sean McMullen each scored a goal and had an assist for Greece (11-7-1).

Ed Silco and Jared Emigh scored for the Patriots.

Aquinas 1, Brockport 1 (OT): Vince Nucci scored 13:41 into the second period on a breakaway to give the Little Irish (14-7-1) a 1-0 lead.

Colby Jones tied the game, on a slapshot, 7:51 into the third period for Brockport (19-1-1).

Goalie Nick Unger made 28 saves for the Blue Devils.

Pete Hoskens made 32 saves for Aquinas.

Churchville-Chili 5, Victor 1: Kyle Mason scored a goal and had three assists for C-C. Freshmen Ed Langschwager and Brad Gurbacki also added goals for the Flames (2-17-1).

NON-LEAGUE

Irondequoit 3, Ogdensburg-X 0: Sean Timkey and Adam Daitz each scored one goal and one assist for Irondequoit (8-3, 13-9). Kevin Paprocki made 27 saves to earn the shutout.
