Gray leads Kearney over Aquinas

(Monday, February 4, 2002) -- Jamar Gray scored 16 points, pulled down 12 rebounds and made 7 steals as Bishop Kearney defeated Aquinas 72-50 Sunday night in the Kearney Classic at Blue Cross Arena at the Community War Memorial.

Gray earned MVP honors for the game. Sean Hall pulled down 11 rebounds to go with 10 points and Michael Williams made six steals off Kearney's press, along with scoring 18 points for the Kings (9-6).

Williams and Hall were named All-Stars. Mark Magliocco had 16 points for Aquinas (10-7). Magliocco and Kevin McMahan were Aquinas' All-Stars.

McQuaid 73, Buffalo Canisius-VI 41: McQuaid jumped to a 21-5 lead as junior center Ryan Pettinella scored 11 of his 18 points in the first quarter.

Junior guard Tyler Relph chipped in with 14 points and six steals for the Knights (17-1).

GIRLS

Elba 46, Bishop Kearney 40: Kate Sereika scored 18 of her 24 points in the second half for Kearney (11-7). Sereika and teammate Kelley Garvin were named All-Stars for the game.
