Rhinos to play Pittsburgh

(Sunday, September 23, 2001) -- The wait is over for the Rochester Rhinos.

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds defeated the Charleston Battery 3-1 yesterday to win their first round A-league playoff matchup.

Pittsburgh won 2-1 in the first game, for a 5-2 aggregate victory, to advance to the quarterfinals. The 12th seeded Riverhounds will host the Rochester Rhinos at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday in the first game of the series.

The team that scores the most goals in the two-game series advances to the semifinals. No. 4 Rochester hosts the second game at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.

Rochester posted a 2-1-1 record against Pittsburgh in the regular season, outscoring the Riverhounds, 8-7.
